If we had it our way, everyone living at The Grand at LaCenterra apartments in Katy would be able to go out to eat every night without fearing the financial consequences. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Going out to eat is expensive, but it doesn’t have to be as expensive as people make it out to be. Restaurants have certain tricks that they use to get people to spend more money than they originally planned to spend. If you know about those tricks, however, you can save a lot of money over time.
This week’s blog is all about saving money when you go out to eat. Restaurant food is never cheaper than home cooked food, but the more you save, the more often you’ll be able to justify going out to eat. With so many amazing restaurants in the neighborhood around The Grand at LaCenterra,
Take a look at the advice below, and remember to share the link to this post with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments in 77450.
Tip #1: Get to the restaurant early
The earlier you get to the restaurant, the cheaper your meal will be. As a general rule at most restaurants, breakfast is cheaper than lunch and lunch is cheaper than dinner. Keep that in mind next time you see a new restaurant that you want to try. You should go there for breakfast or lunch instead of going out for dinner and spending the big bucks.
If you must go out to dinner, try to get to the restaurant while happy hour is still going on. You might not be able to get happy hour deals on your entrees, but you can certainly save on drinks and appetizers if you get to the restaurant early enough.
Tip #2: Learn to say no
Next time you go out to eat, pay attention to how many times your waiter asks you if you want additional food or drinks. Their job is to try to get you to buy as much food and drinks as possible, and it's your job to learn to say no when you’re trying to curb your spending.
Start by saying no to drinks. You don’t need anything but water, and drinks are some of the most outrageously priced items on most restaurants menus. You should also say no to appetizers. There’s no way you’re going to eat all that food anyway right?
When you order your entree, remember to say no when the waiter asks if you want to add fries for an extra $2. Finally, learn to say no when the waiter asks you if you’d like to see a dessert menu. As you can see, you can save a lot of money by learning to say no!
Tip #3: Use the appetizer menu wisely
There are two ways to think about the appetizer menu. The first way is to ignore it altogether, because ordering appetizers before your entrees si a great way to spend money you didn’t really want to spend. Alternatively, you can order your meal exclusively from the appetizer menu. After all, the items on the appetizer menu are also cheaper than entrees, and they come with larger portion sizes.
