Fresh Summer Recipes from your Apartments in Katy

  |     |   Uncategorized

There are a million reasons why you should be cooking at your apartments in 77450 instead of eating out, but one good one is that the warm weather is back! We’re done with the gray skies and chilly days, and if you’re anything like us, the return of the sun should inspire you to cook fresh meals. Another great thing about this time of year is that tons of fruits and vegetables are in season. Whether you shop at the grocery store or at the farmer’s market, you’re getting fresher food now than you were a couple months ago. We love that, which is why we’ve decided to create a list of seasonal recipes for our residents to use!

In this week’s blog, we’re talking about light, flavorful recipes that are perfect for spring and summer afternoons by the grill. Believe it or not, you don’t have to cook brats and hot dogs every time you use the grill this summer. Give these recipes a try instead! Or, you can hang out inside your apartments in Katy and make the food in your luxury kitchen. Either way works! Take a look at the list of recipes below, and enjoy your summer cooking at The Grand at LaCenterra.

Melon, Serrano Ham and Arugula Salad

  • Sherry Vinegar

  • Canola Oil

  • Molasses

  • Sea Salt

  • Cumin

  • Garlic Clove

  • Cantaloupe

  • Serrano Ham

  • Arugula

  • Manchego Cheese

This salad is a little lighter than the previous salad on this list, but it’s still got enough meat and cheese to fill you up. The big difference is that this salad calls for a lot more oils and sauces when making the dressing. You might not be used to cooking with molasses, but give it a shot in the name of experimentation!

Curried Chicken Salad

Before you get started, hit the grocery store and grab these ingredients:

  • Pumpernickel Bread

  • Chopped Onion

  • Brown Sugar

  • Cider Vinegar

  • Chicken Breast

  • Mayonnaise

  • Curry Powder

It’s hard to beat a well-made chicken salad. Then again, it’s hard to even make a chicken salad well, especially if you’re putting it on a sandwich. The key is to find the perfect level of creaminess. Too much mayonnaise and your sandwich will make the bread soggy. Too little, and it’ll be dry. Pumpernickel is a great bread to use for this sandwiches because it’s thick and sturdy enough for even the creamiest of chicken salads.

Truffled Asparagus Crostini

Before you get started, hit the grocery store and grab these ingredients:

  • French Bread Baguette

  • Asparagus Spears

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Olive Oil

  • Manchego Cheese

The last recipe on our list is a fancy little appetizer that’ll be gone mere seconds after you put the platter on the table. It’s light enough to not interfere with the meal, but the lack of calories does not lead to a lack of flavor.

We’ve reached the end of our list of springtime recipes, but we’ll be back next month with another brand new post for y’all! As always, we greatly appreciate those of you that have taken some time out of your busy days to hang out with here on The Grand at LaCenterra blog page.
